Jombang School of Design
The Jombang School of Design is a proposed school of architecture within the city of Jombang, Indonesia. The building's program facilitates and exhibits a high level of sustainability - at both a social and environmental level; with passive ventilation and natural lighting working throughout as to reduce the need for mechanical intervention. The building's design is based upon an abstraction of traditional Indonesian learning shelters called pondok. Pondok are open shelters which host collaborative learning whilst enabling natural lighting and ventilation. The ground floor of the building incorporates this design ideology in its open floor plan and high ceilings.
